Darkness

"Out of Darkness" - by Christopher Watson

"Darkness is the void of creation from where everything comes from and where everything finally goes back in to. It's unknown. Unexplored. Its the unfolding of the future. Its the moment of creation. Its David fighting Goliath. Its child coming out of the womb. Heroes live here. Its the path of ones heart. Its the edge of the universe.

Its a wonderful. Its a scary. Its a creative. Its a place of birth. Its a place of death.

Its chaos. Creative minds and adrenaline junkies live in this place. That's what the "zone" is. Darkness is nirvana. Darkness is god. Its not a place of security. Its a place of glory. Its the place of enlightenment. Its the moment of now. Its eternity. Its a place where men become gods.

Fear of unknown is fear of darkness. Fear of darkness is fear of life."

On Wisdom and Intelligence

Dichotomy- War and Peace

"Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom"
                                                  - Thomas Jefferson

Here are my ramblings about wisdom and intelligence

Wisdom is the ability to look at the whole picture and intelligence is about going in to the  details.Wisdom is a function of the right side of the brain. It has a feeling of wholeness and completeness to it. It has peace and serenity.
Intelligence on the other hand, is a function of left side of the brain. About details. Going in to the problem. It has aggression, and  energy.

Wisdom asks basic questions. Intelligence asks secondary and tertiary level questions. Intelligent persons will argue what is better diet coke or regular coke. Wise person will say “ what is the point”. An intelligent person will argue with an another intelligent person about which  religion is right but a wise person will just smile and say “ Religion? What religion?”

Art is equivalent to wisdom and science to intelligence.

There is a set path to intelligence ( go to college) but there is no set path to wisdom ( you cannot be a Picasso by  just going to an art school).

All the leading experts in a field have a sense of wisdom about their field.

To be intelligent , you have to work hard. Its a physical labour. To be wise, you have to face your fears and ego.

Intelligence builds ego. Wisdom Kills ego. If you have ego, you can never be wise. The hardest kind of learning is the one when your ego is at stake and thats when you get wisdom. Getting wisdom is like being born again. Your old ego has to die and new has to be born. Old person has to metaphorically die. You can never be two persons at the same time.

Culture rewards intelligence because it is easy to measure. Wisdom on the other hand is not a measurable entity. As you can not  measure wisdom, you cannot test it.

Wisdom is a is way of looking at the world. Intelligence is a way of doing things.
Intelligence is common. Wisdom is a rarity.
Wisdom is about what to do , intelligence is about how to do it.
Good leaders have wisdom. Good managers have intelligence.
Intelligence is arrogant. Wisdom is humble. Intelligence is shiny. Wisdom appears dull. Intelligence has a youthful vibe. Wisdom has maturity.

On Evolution of Ideas

"If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - for ever." George Orwell

In the evolution of ideas , human species moves through several stages. First, they start a system (for example a religion). The start  is usually revolutionary but as time goes by people make those hypotheticals and frameworks rigid ways of life. At this point, life is completely sucked out of the system. Doing the “right thing” become more important because everything else is “wrong”. People at this stage, are usually obnoxious and loud because they are doing the “right thing” and everybody else is wrong. At this point, beauty and creativity of life is completely lost. Life is beautiful only because of the infinite ways to do things. And when this infinite complexity is dumbed down to few absolute rules, the whole point of living is gone.

At this point in human history we enter into a phase of rigidity. A rigidity to the ideas but a deep sense that something is not right. People wonder although we are "right" but why we are still unhappy. Then a breakthrough happens  and the  ideas are changed. As our lives are becoming more and more complicated, these breakthroughs are becoming less and less common. At some point, these breakthroughs will stop happening. At that point, the existing forces (of the system/idea ) will be too strong for any new idea to flourish. So there will be no new idea. Human species at that point will suffocate. Suffocate by the burden of “righteousness”  That would be the real orwellian world… I think we are halfway there…

Lets get it started …. It was long overdue.

“ I am going to start a blog.”
“ Good idea. While you are at it, I think you should also start a religion”
“ Nobody reads them. Who has time to a read a blog”
“ Your face book page looks like one. Why do you need another one “
“ I thought you were going to have a  TV show !”

 My inspirational peeps !

It is so interesting how different people give different answers to the same question while conveying the same meaning. Don't do it or what is the point. It also proves another point : I need to hangout with positive people (Ouch ! I know. I know)

Well, this is a blog where few of my passions psychology, sociology,  philosophy, religion , art , mythology, mysticism and science merge. It is a melting pot. An unbridled expression  of random ideas , personal dreams, interesting realizations and political commentary. A blog to celebrate and mourn the human condition . An attempt to explain and understand the meaning of life.

Any idea expressed here is by no means absolute. For a relativist like me, anything which is declared as THE only way is absurd anyway. This blog is about  asking questions. It is not about finding the answers.  If while asking questions, we stumble across some answers, well and good, if we don't .. who cares... Journey is the reward in itself.

And a journey is what its all about indeed ....
